Launched in July 2022, MindSpot GP offers all the benefits of PORTS, plus additional services for Western Australian residents referred by their GP. Patients aged 16 and over can access these services for free, thanks to the support of the Western Australian Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA). In addition to the receiving the same support and services offered nationally, Western Australian patients may also be eligible to access:
Patients may be eligible to access free face-to-face psychology sessions through ORS Group from one of the available locations: Jandakot, Gosnells, Mandurah, Morley, Midland, Stirling, Wellard.
MindSpot GP can also help patients in regional Western Australia access face to face services at their local Regional Integrate Primary Mental Health Provider. For more information on locations and services, please contact us on contact@mindspot.org.au
ORS' psychological services include both evidence-based interventions and psychological assessments for individuals experiencing mental health issues, developmental delays and cognitive difficulties, with the aim to improve their overall functioning and quality of life.
Patients may be able to access up to 15 virtual peer support sessions while undergoing a MindSpot GP Treatment Course. Speak to a MindSpot GP therapist to see if this option is suitable for you.
Peer support connects you with individuals who are trained to use their own lived experience of mental health challenges to support people. eFriend is a provider of peer support and offers free non-clinical support via video or phone calls to people feeling low, lonely, or isolated. eFriend Peers have training in Trauma Informed Care, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills and Intentional Peer Support, using it to listen, validate and create a safe space. They share small parts of their own mental health recovery journey where relevant, to form connections, normalise experiences and share their perspective of navigating similar situations.
MindSpot GP is committed to improving mental health services across Western Australia and provides valuable data to WAPHA via the PHN-Minimum Data Set. This data provides crucial insights into the mental health needs of the community. By understanding the most common conditions, treatment, and resource utilisation, WAPHA can then make informed decisions about allocating resources and planning future mental health services. This data helps WAPHA in their planning to ensure that essential mental health support is available where it's needed most.
