Meet the Pain Course

Our Pain Course is an eight-week online psychological program designed to help you manage chronic pain and its impacts. Combining the latest research in pain management and teaching practical, actionable and proven strategies, this course helps people to effectively manage their pain and its impacts.

Duration: 8 weeks

Format: Online, self-paced with optional weekly therapist check-ins

Support: Regular guidance from specially trained mental health professionals

Who it's for: Anyone struggling with chronic pain who is looking for a comprehensive approach to managing both the physical and emotional aspects impacts of chronic pain

Is this for you?

If chronic pain is interfering with your life, you’ve exhausted other treatments or perhaps you’re waiting to access traditional pain management program, this course could be for you.

The Pain Course is recommended for people who:

Are 18 years of age or older.

Are Australian residents.

Experience symptoms of chronic pain (pain for > 6 months).

Experience pain that is impacting their day-to-day activities or emotional wellbeing, causing stress, anxiety, low mood or depression.

Want to learn about chronic pain and what they can do to manage and reduce its impacts.

Have at least four hours a week to spend working on the course and practising the skills.

The Pain Course is NOT suitable for people who:

Are currently suicidal - Get urgent help

Are not Australian residents

We strongly recommend you discuss your participation in this course with your GP and other health professionals. Maintaining a good working relationship with your GP is essential and they can help you decide whether this program is going to be suitable for you. You can find out if the course is suitable by completing our online assessment.

What you'll learn

Understand chronic pain and how it differs from acute pain

Recognise the cycle of symptoms involved in pain, anxiety and depression

Break the cycle of symptoms

Manage levels of day-to-day physical activity safely and confidently, despite pain

Continue to manage your pain and emotional wellbeing once the course has finished

In addition to the lessons, the course includes DIY Guides to help you better understand and practise skills taught in the lessons. There are also lots of additional resources teaching other important and practical skills, as well as stories from other people with chronic pain who have previously participated in the course.
